Heel-striking in FiveFingers
The video footage here from the New York Barefoot run shows that wearing barefoot style footwear is not necessarily going to give you good running technique. The runners here all believe they are forefoot striking- its actually really difficult to tell what you are doing when you are running without the benefits of video analysis. Over-striding and heel-striking are actually less likely to cause you injury in traditional padded running trainers which are designed for you to run like this. Wearing more minimalist footwear requires some form of technique adaptation in the majority of runners. Don’t be a heel striking FiveFinger Runner- If you want to wear barefoot shoes, commit to improving your technique and learning to run skilfully.
