A Personal Message From Specialist Physiotherapist, Lou Nicholettos

Lou Nicholettos

Have You Ever Experienced Achilles’ Pain?
It’s the kind of burning pain that stops you in your tracks. You might have even heard it “pop”. It niggles when you walk up and down the stairs – especially in the morning. Stiffens up after running or exercise and leaves you feeling frustrated, wondering when it’s finally going to wear off.

If that sounds like you, Cornwall Physio is here to help:

Painful Achilles' tendons are one of the most common things we treat at Cornwall Physio. Many people come to us feeling frustrated because they don't understand WHY their Achilles' is sore. Some think their Achilles' pain is just a part of 'getting old', or inevitable if you're a runner. They believe Achilles' problems come and go. Hoping it'll magically disappear one day… (but it often ends up staying longer - sometimes getting progressively worse).

The sudden onset of Achilles' pain can be confusing. For you it might have been during a game of tennis or whilst you were out running. Often, people with sore Achilles' come for Physio after they've had symptoms for months or even years. Usually, they've unintentionally worsened the problem. Without the right treatment, Achilles' pain tends to stick around, sometimes for a LONG time.

Achilles’ pain doesn't usually go away 'by accident'. It also doesn't significantly go away with rest. There are lots of everyday things that people try to help their sore Achilles’ that don't work and prolong the problem.

When it comes to living with Achilles Pain, everybody we see wants to know.

“Why is This Happening to Me?”...

or

“Why Am I Still Suffering From Achilles Pain After Putting Up With It For 6 Months (Maybe More)?”

Here’s the most crucial thing…

Most people get stuck trying to decide what to do next. Sometimes, putting off treatment for days, weeks, months or even years. But we guarantee your Achilles’ pain won’t get better this way.

Does This Sound Like You?

If so, the next important thing is to take action.

Why Else Does ACHILLES PAIN Last Longer Than It Should?

Well, it’s easy to get confused because there are lots of unqualified people out there who dispense advice - but not all of it is credible.

Maybe you think it was caused by something you did – like repetitive strain from playing football or wearing high-heeled shoes. But the cause could be something different altogether, relating to how you move.

If you're not an expert, – Achilles' pain can be confusing. This confusion is why many runners, athletes or active grandparents and ramblers accept it as 'part of life' and put off having treatment for so long that the pain becomes difficult to ignore.

If you’ve lived with Achilles’ pain for a long time - we would love to help you. The best way to get started is to book a call to talk to one of our physiotherapists. And, don’t worry, if you’ve tried lots of things already, we view this as a good thing because we’re even closer to finding the all-important root cause.

To start your recovery, please click the link below to book a call with us. The call is complimentary, and there is no obligation to book further treatment.

So the next question is:

  • Reduce your reliance on painkillers - that are harmful to your health long-term
  • Help you avoid surgery and painful cortisone injections.
  • Keep you out of the GP’s waiting room or from making repeat visits only to be given more pills!
  • Help you to walk or run longer than 15 minutes without your Achilles’ tendon feeling tight and painful.
  • Help you put the joy back into everything you do.
