Regular Maintenance Physiotherapy Will Keep You Performing at Your Best

Rob’s maintenance physio

As we hit Autumn Marathon season, runners and non-runners alike can benefit from regular Physiotherapy sessions to keep on top of any aches or pains.

This year one of our Physio team, John, took part in the London Marathon and went through the same training ups and downs as many of our clients:

“Marathon training can be a bumpy road for most, and speaking to some of the more seasoned marathoners we have treated lately it seems almost a given that there will be a few niggles along the way, especially as the mileage starts to peak.

There have been a few times where I've been grateful for the Anti-gravity treadmill (yes, there are perks of working at a specialist Physio clinic!), as my legs have started to complain after some of the longer runs.

I’ve also made sure to have regular Physio sessions with one of my colleagues, for a monthly loosen-up and MOT”

Here at Cornwall Physio these regular loosen-ups are known as ‘maintenance Physio’, and they really are the best way we know of keeping any niggles or chronic injuries at bay, so that runners can maintain consistent training and reach their full potential.

Maintenance Physio is Not Just for Runners

People generally come to see us once a month (or every 4-6 weeks), once they have finished a course of Physiotherapy treatment and this helps to stop aches or pains coming back.

It’s not just our runners who love maintenance physio but we also see many of our active patients with anything from chronic back pain to arthritic joints who just want to keep on top of things so that they can enjoy living their lives without constant aches and pains.

Maintenance Sessions Are Great For:

  • Clients prone to back or neck ache
  • Sports people or gym users who want to keep on top of stiffness
  • Desk workers with achy shoulders
  • People with Osteoarthritis, hip or knee pain
  • Runners who want to prevent injuries and keep running at their best

What’s Included in Maintenance Physio Sessions?

We tailor our sessions to whatever you need that month. Your Physio will listen to how you're getting on and work out what mixture of treatments will benefit you the most.

So if you have a history of injuries or aches and pains that are stopping you in your tracks, then I would recommend speaking to one of our physiotherapists to find out what we can do to help you to get your active life back to its best, or give your training a boost. Maintenance sessions can include ANY of our usual treatments and services, including:

  • Deep tissue massage
  • Acupuncture
  • Electrotherapy
  • Anti-Gravity rehab
  • Shockwave therapy
  • Force plate analysis
  • Gait Analysis
  • Cupping
  • Tailored exercise programmes
  • Training advice

For anyone coming to see us regularly, we also offer special discounts and payment plans.
